Very, very long transaction cycle. Take about 7 days for a deposit to clear.
Unacceptable in this day and age. Most banks has a 3 day transaction cycle.

I've been with Amtrust bank for over three years now...Then came the nightmare!!! They put a hold into my account for some unexplainable reason...I called their customer service to find out what was the reason why they put a hold onto my account...All representative did not give me any reason why...They told me that I need to talk to their Bank Protection Services...Which I tried to get a hold of for so long uncomfortable hours...I did not speak to their Bank Protection Services not until the very next day which I have to unrest through the night what was going on with my account...The reason why they put a hold in my account is simply I have closed my previous e-savings account and open another one...That is too shallow to blocked my account...People intend to close their account because they want to move their money around, and shop for a better interest to put more value for their money...After that incident I decided to withdraw all my money from Amtrust Bank and never come back...It's ridiculous...When you are banking your money to any bank...We should all be comfortable with a peace of mind without any worry...So good bye Amtrust Bank you have lost a loyal customer...

Interest going up. Amtrust eSavings is now offerring 4%. It was recently posted here on emoneycentral. Does anyone know why it is now being displayed at 2.50% ?

I have nothing but disdain for Amtrust. This is the single most dishonest operation I have encountered in 40 years of investment banking. On two separate occasions, they have refused to terminate a CD that I had with them. On the first occasion, I was told that I sent my letter to close to the deadline and they were unable to respond. They made this claim even though they report having a 7-day grace period for notifications of termination. After they automatically reinvested my CD, of course at several percentage points lower than the initial CD, I was told I could notify them at any time that I did not want my CD to be rolled over. So I sent them a letter 5 months in advance of the termination date of the CD. Tonight I was informed that AmTrust has no record of my letter as I sent it TOO EARLY AND THEY DON'T KEEP LETTERS THIS LONG! I have never dealt with any company that can equal their ineptitude. Stay away from Amtrust!

While I still maintain an account at Amtrust Direct, it's sad to see the 5.36% drop to 5.31% APY. Hopefully, this is the only drop.
Still pleased with the website. Could improve on the transaction cycle.

Tried to add my other external account to transfer money, however, the website gives me a message, page not found. So, I go back to try to add an account and each time I click on the link to add another external account, it transfers me to the right page that I could see the space where I need to enter my routing number and the account number, however, a second later it drops me to the page not found, I dont know, some kind of error, I guess. Don't know how else could I set up an external account to transfer money? Anybody knows, please help.

Pros:
-Interest rate
-Website
-External transfer (get withdraws per month)
Cons:
-Extremely long float time (Mine haven't been as long as 7 days, but 4-5 business days is till too long)
Overall:
Extremely pleased. My only worry is that with the flexible interest rate, they will lower it within 12 months (the account must be active for 12 months before closing to avoid a fee).

Positive:
- Steady 5.36 APY

Negative:
- Account holder can only view the last 120 calendar days.
- 7 days to complete a transaction.

Opened a MM account and received E-mail notification within a few mins. Letter with info' on accessing account is supposed to arrive within a week....

While their high interest rates on CDs are about the highest, their on-line banking is not ready for prime time. Each time I have had problems with their initial passwords or their enhanced security. Each time I have had to speak with more than one customer service rep to resolve.

I completed a few transactions between AmTrust and other financial institutions.
- Deposits took exactly 7 days to clear. Floating the customer's money benefits AmTrust and not the account holder. This could be improved.
- Customer Service was not knowledgeable of their product offerings. This is definitely a fix that is very much needed.
The only positive thing about AmTrust is their web-site.

Setting up the account was very easy. At first, I hesitated on applying because of the "review" threads at this site.
The account letter in the mail came, but it would have been nice to have an email confirmation that a letter was sent out.
Website is good. Ease of use.
Haven't transfered any funds from another institution yet. Hope its pretty quick.
So far, I'm pleased.

I completed all the required information online for a new account two weeks ago and still haven't heard anything from AmTrust Direct. I didn't even get a confirmation email. I resently emailed them asking the status but haven't heard back from them.
