I am a couponer myself. Whenever there is a promotion, I am into it. I open and close accounts yearly to get the bonus. So far I earn at least $300 a year from different banks. The best bank that keeps their promise without a doubt, Chase, followed by M&I and Bank of the West.
Bank of America is one of the worst. When they say up to 90 days before you get the bonus. They really mean it. It's not like Chase or M&I. Even if the promotion says up to 90 days, these latter banks give your bonus within 30 days.
I don't blame any banks. They follow the rule (of course not everything is perfect). So it's a must to read the Terms and Conditions.

If you read the Terms and Conditions of the Financial Institutions you are dealing with, you will not feel abused because you know your rights.

The 30-day period is not stated in the application form, it's in the promotional banner. You have to read the promotion script.

Bank of America refuses to honor the $100 bonus for opening a checking account in Nov 2009, saying that the first transaction with the check-card should have been done in the first 30 days. I have done it 35 days after opening. I printed the application with the online offer and it does NOT have a time frame for the first transaction. Is it worth suing them in small claims court, or are you aware of any existing class action?

I got the same letter.I transferred $500 on BOA website when opening the account. It was never transferred and to make matter worse I went and used my debit card to fulfill their requirement and because they never transferred the $500, they charged my credit card (which was linked to my bank account) $10 for over draft protection and interest on top of that. They should be prosecuted criminally. Well I plan on depositing $60,000 into the account and waiting a week and then closing my account just to get their attention. I don't understand how people put up with this banks impersonal, non caring attitude of this bank.

Reply Pompano Beach. Your state probably has a Consumer Protection Office, in the office of the State Attorney General. I would question your bank as to why there was "no tranfer" of the $500 to BOA. It appears you had no $500 opening deposit as required? Did you try a followup transfer?

Reply to Pompano Beach. If your bank never transfered the $500 from your checking to BOA by an ACH process, you never had a deposit of $500 to open the account?
Check with your bank concerning the transfer process. My BOA account showed $0 for a day or so until the $500 finally posted, then the BOA account showed the opening deposit as being $500 and the $0 amount was dropped. I got my bonus of $100 on the 31st day my account was open and this period included the couple days of $0 deposit before the transfer posting. They do pay the bonus.

I signed up on the internet with the info provided in the newspaper and transferred $500 from my checkning account. It said it accepted it but when I pulled up my new account after receiving my account number and debit card it showed a zero balance. I checked my regular checking account and the $500 was never transferred. My opinion is that they are refusing to pay on their published offer. Today I received a letter in the mail from Paul R. Seddon stating " Thank you for recently opening a checking account with Bank of America. Unfortunately, your account did not meet the minimum account bal;ance, required to earn the bonus.
So why would they open an account with zero deposit? Is there a state agency to report this to?

I saw the internet promo for the $100 account and inquired at a local Bank of Am. The account rep had no clue as to the offer or the code for the offer? Could not pull up any info on it and had no idea of who to call to check it out.... no wonder they lost billions in the 4th quarter 09.A $100 return on a $500 deposit in one month doesn't sound like good business. But I will take them up on the offer....for one month.

I was told by a Capital One banker that Bank of America would not honor the $100 offer. He said not to bother with opening an account or trying to get your $100...they wouldn't pay.

When Bank of America refuses to honor their $100 promotion, document and mail complaint to your State Attorney General, Consumer Protection ( or whatever your state calls it).Bank of Am. can only operate in a state with permission and it is a snap to get your $100 deposited very quickly deposited when the bank gets a copy of the complain with the proper internet offer and on line bank records of your account showing $500 opening deposit and one bank card transaction and a 30 day period.

Bank of America is CHEATING customer on its current promotion of $100 bonus.

I did whatever it required; opened with $500 minimum, used check card one time, opened for 30 days. But their Vice President of Deposit Sales and Marketing, Paul R. Seddon wrote and refused to honor the promise based on a nonsense excuse of ..."the promotional incentive was declined as the account did not meet the funding requirement"...even after 5 e-mails to walk them through the promotion requirement.

Check out the promo page for proof http://www.bankofamerica.com/promos/jump/uspsmovers/index.cfm

I was surprised to see "bigger" bank, like Bank of America, acts as cheaty as "smaller" bank such as TC*Bank that is offering $50 bonus.

I've had a checking and savings account with Bank of America for several years. I had to close the savings account because the rate was far too low, but I'm happy about the checking account. My favorite thing about Bank of America is that I can always find an ATM nearby.

I had my check card stolen once and the thief went on a shopping spree. B of A reversed the debits to my account. No problem.
