Customer Service. What's that? Banks, Credit Card Co's, Insurance Co's, Utility Co's? I've been with Emigrant over 2 years. Wish rates were a little higher, but I have always received my money in 2 business days.

I noticed that EmigrantDirect is no longer listed on Bankrate.com. They used to be prominently listed there, but no more.

Does anybody know what this indicates? I take it as they haven't submitted all the required info to bankrate. I wouldn't think that's a good sign. As a result of this and their faster falling interest rates, I took my money out of my account at EmigrantDirect.

what the heck.they just opened a new savings account called dollar saving direct.it pays 3.75% which is a lot higher then the 3% I'm getting with emigrant direct.this is the last straw I'm looking for a new bank.

I've had an account with them for several years. I've always been pleased with their service, and unlike other banks, they are very fast with transfers.

However, their interest rates have become completely noncompetitive and they slash rates at the first hint of a fed rate cut. I guess they don't need our money anymore

I have been a customer with them for about 2 years. I just sent them a message asking them why their rates have become so low & non-competitive with other firms, and I got back a canned response about "we can lower rates any time at our descretion", which had nothing to do with my questions. Moving my money to another institution with higher rates very soon.

Service is OK but don't like that they have the same account bancofortuna.com geared to there spanish customer that pays 5.05% I will move my money to a company that treats all customers the same

fast reply to contact on the website message. I recently close them b/c I have too many savings acct which pay the same or more. They have great fast ACH, but lack the adding capabilities.

The external verfication process is inadequate. Takes far too long for Emigrant to link an outside checking account. Emigrant must mondernize the process...to elivate customer frustration.

I've had an account with them for 10 months now and haven't had any issues. Not sure if I can stay loyal now that the interest is lower. Wish they would give us a sense of what they have in mind for the future but you don't really hear from them... except for the monthly statement.

Never had any problems with them, but since their accounts are no longer the highest yielding around, I've begun looking for greener pastures.

I talked to one of their reps and was told that external money market can be linked to their acct. During verification process, they made 6 deposits and withdraw 6 times, totally 12 times transactions. The other bank charged me $30 because of transaction exceeding 6 withdraws. I understood that it was partially my fault not reading their disclosure carefully, but the reps told me otherwise. But their stupid system kept depositing and withdraw a numeric times even I phoned them and asked to stop doing it, but they could not stop it even the rep kept trying and told me the issue would be resolved. I contacted 6 people including 2 managers, but everybody kept ignoring me after taking the case. Finally, they agreed to refund $20, but not $30, and saying that it was the best they could do. I filed a complaint without asking for that $10, somebody from customer relationship dept contacted me and refund the extra $10.

I always liked their service, but have transfered most of my funds into higher paying banks.

Sorry, another post just to ask 'wen' what fee was charged that you had to go through BBB?

The only fee I can think of is the one for exceeding 6 withdraws in a month. But they all have them and make it very clear when you set it up.

If you are posting a negative review, please be specific or else you just sound like a whiner.

I've been with Emigrant Direct since 2005 and am very pleased. The transfers are quick. New money deposited isn't available for 5 biz days but that's ok for me.

The secured log in is a bit more work, but I guess it's safer.

I haven't had to contact customer service yet, so I guess that's a good sign too!

Got a fee back after going through BBB. Still will not use them again.

At the time when I opened my account, the initiate service was very poor. That's about 15 months ago. Emigrant has since changed. Both customer service and their website has much improved. So far, all is good.

I've been using them for over 6 months with no problems lately.

Had a bit of a rough patch when they went through the security improvement stage. But everythings OK now.

I haven't had to use customer service, so I can't comment on it.

bad experience with the bank. Screw you up when doing small deposits, they did over 6 times plus 6 withdraws. Customer service is worst ever.

Very poor customer service. Some communication has to be done via email through their secure website but rarely do they reply. However they have a good website and ACH transfers are very fast, faster than the above comments suggest. The big downfall, if you decide to close your account before the end of the month, ALL accumulated interest is lost so close on the 1st day of the next month or just withdraw all the funds and leave a zero balance. Let them figure out you left!
