The ATM fee rebates are excellent and always accurate. HSBC Direct has similar feature (up to only $6) but has never rebated up to $6 unless you send numerous bank mails to correct it. HSBC Direct's customer service is really a mess where every CSR tells you a different story with the same question.

I opened this account and went very smooth. Helped that I already had accounts with them so no hard pull. Mailed in application with funding check and within 3 days my account showed up online. Then 2 days later got my free 100 checks. No problems pushing or pulling from another banks. I did one from Emigrant and took 1 day. Also they start paying interest the day they receive check and hold times are either 1 or 5 days which is not bad

Nothing super fancy but I have been using it for a couple years and find it great and very simple. Bill pay is nice as they don't deduct until payment is made. Also they have check imagining. Also like that they send an e-mail after every bill pay is made. Another great feature with Salem Five is they have DIF insurance which cover everything over FDIC limit.
