I tried to open an account online and was not approved. I phoned SS and they said they couldn't get through to Equafax. I told them I have a "freeze" on my credit account, so that no one could open a credit account in my name. SS told me I could go to Equafax and remove the "freeze," but I told them I did not want to do that and wold forget about opoening an account with them.

Just a correction to my previous post (it took 14 business days for initial transfer):
Terrible.
1. Awful disjointed user interface
2. Monthly compounding of interest
3. Transfer limits of 15000
Don't bother.
4. Initial deposit of $1 took exactly 20 calendar days (14 business days) to see, but only after I emailed them to complain.
I'd glad I just had an initial test transfer of 1.00. But unfortunately, they require a minimum of 10.00 to transfer it back out. I'll just call it a loss.

The resrictions on transfers can be lifted with a quick call to CS. After calling, they moved my account into a "premium" status which allows $40k/daily incoming and $100k/monthly outgoing. Very helpful CS group. But the initial deposit was a little slow in posting.

They have amazing customer service. Same day or next day response on emails and very nice people on the phone. They have a great rate and it is very easy to set up your account.

Very, very slow. It took more than a week to open an account. It's been more than 13 days since my initial deposit was withdrawn from my funding account and the money is STILL UNAVAILABLE. Compared to CountryWide, WTDirect, FNBO and others, their transactions are extremely slow, if not intentionally delayed to hold onto YOUR money.

A bank will reject you for a bad credit report only if they do a hard credit pull. As far as I know, Savings Square does not do a hard credit pull. However, I am certain that they will check your chexsystem report which tracks your past bank account history.

Do online banks reject people with bad credit reports?

It's not readily apparent until after you're in, there are daily and monthly limits imposed on incoming and outgoing transfers. It's not like ING where you can transfer as much as you want at any time.

ACH transfers (using the linked external account feature) are free.
I would expect that they charge a fee for wire transfers.

If it is zipped electronically, is there still fees with transfers?

I deposited money on Savings Square and everything went perfectly. I like it better than any of the sites that i have used in the past. Kudos for being so simple.
