You must use another institution(in my case, countrywidebank) to transfer money in and out electronically. To do this, simply add your UFB account to your bank listing in countrywide and initiate a transfer to UFB. And when you want to withdraw, reverse the process. Good Luck!

I would like to add to the post about the fact that UFB Direct is not actually a bank. They are a deposit broker called "Affinity Financial Corporation" that may place your money with any one of several FDIC insured banks. Isn't the reason we go on line & look at bank reviews so we know we're depositing at a safe bank? What's the need for a middleman? W/r/t customer service, mine (in trying to get info about starting an account) has been lousy. And thanks to you all who revealed ugly thing about UFB -- the fact that they lowered the interest on your account & opened another account w/higher interest & didn't tell you; and the fact that you can't ACH money to them. I didn't know that. So I'm definitely not going to start an account w/them. Glad I read this first.

Signed up with UFB about three weeks ago. Would HIGHLY recommend getting the free checking too, so you can instantly transfer funds into the savings. Otherwise, snail mail is the only way to fund the savings account, which is inconvenient.

As the other poster stated, dont know why UFB makes it so tedious for you to get money INTO the account, but their rates are at the top right now. The ATM card is also useful in case you of emergency situation. Still have my account with ING, but UFB is a good choice to store some emergency cash.

Caution: UFB Direct is not actually a bank. They are a deposit broker called "Affinity Financial Corporation" that may place your money with any one of several FDIC insured banks.

At this time, the two banks that they are placing deposits with are Huntington National Bank and Countrywide Bank. The list of banks may change at any time.

You can find out which bank your deposits are at by calling customer service.

This means that if you have other accounts at Countrywide Bank or Huntington National Bank, your UFB Direct deposits will be combined with your other accounts at those banks to determine your FDIC limits.

If you have accounts at both UFB Direct and at Countrywide Bank, you may be over the FDIC insurance limit without knowing it.

After almost two years of having an account with them, I've found they consistently offer the best or near best rate out there. You need to check on your account - one time they lowered my interest rate, and created a new account type that kept the high rate - I noticed and called and had my account switched to the new type. They don't like transfer to/from the MMA account, so I recommend opening a free checking account, leaving $100 in there, and just use that for all your transfers in and out. Since I adopted that, I've had no problems with them whatsoever.

I had almost $100,000 with them at one time, but their customer service attitude was so poor, that I closed my account. For some inexplicable reason, they do not make it easy for you to transfer funds in or out. Not recommended.

First rate customer service but deposits must be made by mail, direct deposit, or ATM. No ACH transactions are available and that just didn't work well for me. Too bad...:^(
