here's the bottom line about WTdirect: their rates have remained very good since day 1.
but they absolutely have among the slowest transfer times of any bank.

Agree with the others about sloooow...I would like to know what they are doing with your funds in the days between the time the money leaves your external bank and shows up in your WTdirect account. Are they surviving on the float or something?

I agree with NotQuite and will also complain to the FTC and I will report it to Bankrate.com which is where I found out about WTDirect. I was told by the rep I spoke to on the phone, BEFORE I put 10K in the account, that I would get 4.90% for the first 60 days then the rate could change after that. I explicitly asked the rep that question. (Let's listen to the recorded transcript of my conversation.) The "welcome" literature states "Rate: 4.90% APY for the first 60 days; thereafter on balances of 10k or more*)
*APY is variable. For the first 60 days from the date the account is opened, regardless of the account balance, the account will earn our highest APY, currently 4.90%." I read this as I will get 4.90% for the first 60 days and that is exactly what I was told when I spoke to the rep before I opened the account. I was told today that they have since changed the language on this. Apparently the only thing guaranteed for 60 days is that you will get the higher tier fluctuating APY THAT WOULD NORMALLY BE PAID ON ACCOUNTS WITH A MIN $10K regardless whether you have 10K or not in the account for the first 60 days. There is NO fixed APY for the first 60 days.

ummm... aren't ALL savings rates (not CDs) variable? They state that clearly when you sign up....
Every last one of these can change on you at any time. And every last one of them was dropping like a rock in March...

This is a bogus offer.
I deposited with them in March when the rate was 3.91. When I called today to ask why I was only earning 3.26, they said "It's a variable rate, it's not guaranteed." So for 60 days, they lock "their current highest APY" which may be in the toilet. I complained to the FTC because I think the wording is deliberately misleading. Hope others do, too.

They may not be the highest rate, but they certainly don't seem to be the first to drop rates.
Just plan on all transfers being on Monday if you don't want to lose interest. They are SLOW. EmigrantDirect is *MUCH, MUCH* faster, but they slash rates well before WT Direct....

Opening the account and all was easy. No more difficult than anywhere else.
Funding seems to be SLOW, though. From my experience so far, it has taken 4-5 days after they withdraw money from your linked account before they credit your account with them. This is rather pathetic for electronic transfers. If they weren't so slow, I would recommend them more... but....
