E-LOAN joined the high rate online savings business in September of 2006 when it introduced the Online Savings account with a huge 5.50% annual percentage yield (apy). However, since the start of the credit crunch, the yield on the Online Savings account (now called Standard Savings) has crashed to seriously low levels. Savers who wish to bank with E-LOAN can consider one of the bank's certificates of deposit (CD). E-LOAN offers CDs with terms from 1 month to 6 years. A CD account can be opened with a minimum deposit of $10,000.
