At one point, I was incredibly happy with Capital One. They had good rates, okay customer service and I got the impression that I was a valued customer.
Fast forward to today. I have quite a bit of money in my savings account with Capital One for quite some time. I just noticed that the .85% is not actually .85%, it's more like .80%. Not a big difference, but it's nitty crap like this that wears on my mind with Capital One.
After several years of being a loyal customer with excellent credit scores, they doubled my credit card APR for as the customer service guy said, "no good reason I can see. your account is stellar."
All these banks are pretty much out for blood. They are the 1% who are earning all the money.
OccupyWallStreet. These guys are part of the problem. Trust me.

I opened an account several years ago in conjunction with a Costco promotion to take advantage of good money market rates. I have done all my banking online and everything has gone smoothly.

A Capital One Financial Advisor called me and said he had been looking over my accounts and wanted to suggest that I make an investment in a CD bonus plan. Why is a bank employee reviewing an individuals account? I have started withdrawing my funds from Capital and placing elsewhere!

Victim of fraud today - Capital One posted 64 charges from the same company, "WITHIN SECONDS" according to the woman on the phone who refused to give me her name. I first got a call from a wonderfully helpful woman from Master Card fraud protection, who said my funds will be available immediately at a bank branch, per Master Card regulations, but that my card was cancelled, also per Master Card Platinum Credit and Debit rules. I have reviewed the policies, and Capital One is to immediately give me access to my funds. Evidently they did not read this part of the agreement. Capital One will not process the claim for five days, and will not remove them from my account for an additional 10-14 days?!? Also said my direct deposit would not be available until said 64 transactions to a UK/China telecom company were disputed and documented via snail mail both ways. I know what is in Richard Fairbanks wallet, and he isn't getting my family's business EVER AGAIN!!! You suck Richard, and Jack isn't the only illegal Ripper. You will get yours soon, and I hope it is proportionately financially debilitating.

Online service is horrible. It keeps getting worse.
Why they are changing secure question from what I had has chosen to answer when I subscribed to on-line connection to my accounts? Anybody knows? Reps on phone are better but it eats up time tremendously.

I give lessons and bring in a few checks every week. Why do I always feel like first Chevy Chase and now Capitol one are harrassing me to open a small business account. I DON"T WANT TO. They're pissing me off. Why don't they sell everything they have give to the poor and have a great reward in heaven???

I've been a customer for over 5 years. The quality of their 'first responders' has gone down over the years. I found I can usually get things resolved by requesting a Supervisor, as soon as it's apparent the employee I'm dealing with will not be helpful. If the first supervisor isn't helpful, and either hang up and call back, hoping to get different people, or ask for the supervisor's supervisor. So far, I've been able to resolve everything, except their slow posting process, especially when you open a new account. Makes one very nervous.
Right now I'm wishing I had opened a CD 6 months ago, when the Interest rates were a little higher. The financial collpase, thus the lowering of mortgage rates, has negatively effected interest rates on our savings accounts -- although it shouldn't, since it doesn't appear credit card or mortgage rates have anything to do with bank's saving account holdings anymore (it did at one time), these days.
We savers are just being screwed in general, and I wish the government would do something about this, such as writing legislation, or making policy, that encourages banks to raise interest rates for savers. The savings interest rates don't look hopeful to increase with all the low, fixed mortgages, but the banks are making billions on other loans and credit cards, and licking their chops for another bailout -- what a bonanza they've had, and hope to have again.

This bank sucks! I was a chevy chase bank customer & capital one bought them. The tranfer has been one big headache for me. My bill payments did not tranfer & they cannot explain why. Our cd is missing & they cannot explain why. I can't get through to them if I call, because there is a high volume of calls (gee I wonder why).
We are in the process of looking for a new bank. Soon capital one will not be in our wallets.

They can't even explain to you or to themselves how to make a partial payment. Dumb. Even the people at the branch didn't know.

I've had an online savings account and credit cards with them for years. I've never had any problems yet. Yes, the transfers can take up to 5 days, but considering that it is a SAVINGS and thus not your running account, I think that the best rate out there is worth the wait.

It's obvious that Capital One is run by a bunch of complete idiots. Tried for a week to open an account; talked to many foreign call centers with no results. Poorly managed bank.. not worth the effort to help them fix their many internal problems.

Unless the bank states that there are no minimums and no fees, I don't bother with them. This one doesn't qualify.

pain in the ass to open an account and the slowest money transfer I have ever seen. Not worth the hassle to switch to this bank.

Had exactly same problem as above post. Tried for over a week to open an account & talked to at least 4 different reps with no resolution. GAVE UP! Couldn't believe it was so difficult to give an institution $100K. INCOMPETENT EMPLOYEES may be one of the many reasons banks needed a bail out!!!!!
