Chase is a wholesale bank and lacks the culture of a retail bank. As such, it performs very poorly both as an online bank and at the branch level.
Go bank elsewhere.

That's NOT the right way. Other banks do that in the hope that you'll forget about the outstanding payment and overdraw your account, so they can collect their massive fees. You have to always reconcile your checkbook. With Chase, I don't even keep a checkbook register anymore because I don't need to reconcile it. My online balance is always exactly accurate to what I have available because I'm able to send money and pay everything online. It instantly gets deducted from my balance so I know how much I have without having to think about it.

Why does Chase pull money out of your checking account before the online billpay check is cashed or when the money is sent electronically rather than when the paid party receives it. B of A debits your account the day the paid party receives it which is the right way.
