Have a CD account - but accessing it is almost impossible. The user and password is automatically scratched by DORAL if you don't access your account in 90 days. You cannot reset it, nor reach anyone easily - only available from 9 to 5 Monday thru Friday (CST) - and then you get a machine and must wait to be called back. TERRIBLE SERVICE. I recommend using Everbank or Colorado Federal for CDs and Money Market Accts. Far, far better service and decent rates of return.

See comment below. I was finally able to access my account by going to the www.doralbankny.com link then changing region to Florida. This still scares me though.

Just tried to log into my account and got this notice:

On Wednesday, March 23, 2011 this site was transferred to our affiliate, Doral Bank, a state chartered non-member bank regulated by the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation and the Commissioner of Financial Institutions of Puerto Rico. Both Doral Bank and Doral Bank, FSB are wholly owned subsidiaries of Doral Financial Corporation.

There's more than that. The point is that when I acknowledge and go to the log on screen I can't get in. It says I entered the wrong information. I know it's correct.

What's going on, anybody know?

I experienced the same problems as mentioned opening with this bank. Now having trouble closing. I am being told everything will be all right but they are holding the funds past the maturity date even though notice was sent well in advance.

I applied for the 11 month CD.on 2/7-2/8. The acct. was finally opened on 3/19. But it was a savings. I called and was told that I probably made a mistake on the appl. So now I have a 3 month promotional at 3.5 I didn't make a mistake on the appl. They just pulled a fast one, because they didn't want to lock me in at that rate for 11 months. If there was a ? as to what I was applying for, they had my email and tel. No.

I had similar experiences, super long hold times and never spoke to a person. I thought my money might have been stolen. I couldnt log into the website. Terrible experience.

I used the number posted earlier, 212-329-3700, and it was answered by a human!! The process of getting things worked out was smooth and simple, they were kind and helpful. I will be closing the account, but I now feel confident I will get my money back.

If you have been experiencing the same difficulty as other users with this bank, I suggest promptly filing a complaint with the Office of Thrift Supervision. The complaint form can be found at:

Select OTS Consumer Complaint Form

My application for the 11 month 3.50% CD was approved on 2/13, just before they began restricting accounts to 3 states. But my experience was a nightmare. ALL my phone calls were unanswered and messages were ignored. I couldn't even leave voicemail because their box was full and would not accept anymore messages. Email to them was unanswered. I began to have second thoughts about this no name bank and figured if customer service was this poor before I committed to a CD, how much problems would I have once they have my money? The question I needed to have answered was whether my 3.5% rate was locked in or if I had to settle for the current lower rate (which was 2.5% at the time). It took 2 weeks before any trial deposits showed up in my linked account and the 11 month CD was no longer available on their website. I am still debating whether I should proceed with the CD purchase (they finally emailed me an apology for the lack of response and confirmed that my rate was locked in at the 3.5%).

well the rate dropped like a hot rock. i managed to lock in on a 11 mo 3.5% cd. had me a little worried there as i didn't hear from them for a while, i got a hold of customer service, best number to call is 212-329-3700 for customer service. they are a small bank that was OVERWHELMED with the response to their 3.5% offer. well what did they expect when they had the best rate in the country? anyway i will post with updates to this acct.

In response to 815 --

On the bottom of the "More Details" page (see the link below), it says, "$1,000 must be maintained in the savings account in order to obtain the promotional rate, WHICH IS GUARANTEED FOR THREE MONTHS."
