Everbank is the worst choice you can make. Apart from the fact that the opening process is cumbersome and time-consuming, its banking services are expensive and limited. If you are an investor interested in its currency funds, before putting a dime be smart and do some research and find out how satisfied previous investors are. I am unable to comment further here. Do your homework, you won´t regret it… There are much better options for hard currencies, more affordable, with better return and, most importantly, with clean track records.

I tried applying for a checking account today with hopes of using the foreign currency accounts down the road. I went through the whole application process, they ran my credit and everything went through. The webiste froze on the page that does the signature card, however. After a lot of waiting, finally decided to exit and go back to finish. When I tried to go back, the website asked me for my login and password, which was never given to me during the application process. I call the 1-888 number for support, and the people there couldn't help me. They couldnt give me my login ID, they couldn't see that I had applied and been approved for an account, they couldnt do anything until Monday, and then someone was going to call me and yadda yadda. Bottom line: the support number folks seemed impotent, without the ability to do what they were supposed to do: HELP ME. Furthermore, the application process is flawed: at no point does it tell you "Click here to get your login and password", you can only get that when you click "Save Application" according to the support folks. So if this is their web designer's idea of how to say "Login and Password HERE" then they obviously dont speak the same language as the rest of us. This is LAME. My first interaction with Everbank and it already went badly. I'm not getting a warm and fuzzy from this institution, as other posts warn here, it does start to seem like a sham. Great Web PR campaign to get their name out there, but in the end just another careless execution and lack of caring about keeping customers who are interested from the start. Everbank just lost my business.

I have been using Everbank for several years to access foreign currency CDs. I am very satisfied with them. Their newsletter "Daily Pfennig" is both funny and informative. I have found them easy to do business with and responsive.

If you want a foreign currency account but don't like Everbank, log on to Merk Investments or FranklinTempleton hard currency fund.

Glad I read these reviews before opening the account. I was just getting ready to open an account and transfer out of hsbc. Still looking to get out of there, but will not be opening account with Everbank.

They have a minimum balance ($5000) to avoid an $8.95 fee. No thanks. Only patronize those with no fees and no minimums.

I have been a satisfied user of Everbank for 7 years and NEVER had any problems. All the whinners who had invested in Iceland CD's should read the news. When you go for ultra high interest rates, expect the risk may be high. That's the way it works. I love my online checking. When my balance recently went below $5000 because I had forgotten about the new minimum balance to avoid maintenance charges, I wrote them and they refunded the charges.

I had an interest in some CD's due to maturity and was looking for a better rate in todays market. After reading the reviews on EverBank, I think its best said "Let the buyer beware" or as P T Barnumb stated "A sucker is born every minute". I wont let this outfit suck on me. Thanks.

Everbank is terribly slow in releasing the money when you want to withdraw using ACH transfer. What typically takes a day or two for normal online banks takes them 3 to 5 days. In addition, they only allow $50K per day and $100K per month withdrawal. Totally defeats the purpose of having online banking. Everbank equals TOO MUCH RESTRICTIONS! Avoid unless you want to deal with hassles!

Do not ever use Everbank. They made me request to have my CD closed by email 3 times and by mail once.
They then claimed to have closed my account on 4/27/09.
It is now 5/13/09 and I am still waiting for my check .
I am now told I need to send in a notarized affidavit that I did not receive my check and wait 30 days after they claimed they sent me a check before they will look into sending me a replacement check. Think about it, is $10 or $20 more you get in interest worth the effort?

Everbank's Yield Pledge Money Market Account is a real screw job for existing customers. Their REAL rate on this account after their INTRO rate runs about half a point lower than they advertise. In today's savings market half a point is not just a little bit.

I have an everbank account and i am very pleased with it. The opening process was a bit annoying, but afterwards it has been great. They refund any ATM fees and customer service is nice. It does requires a bit of learning, but I am still happy with it.

Don't deal with them. I filled their application online. I had a few questions and decided to call them before to send the check. Nobody picked up the phone. Once I waited for 30 min on hold. And the check should be sent to the Everbank, not to yourself.

don't waste your time. After filling out the online application ypu are told yu must mail the applicaton along with a check. They'll sit on your check for several weeks, if you call to complain they'll day their backlogged with a surge of recent activity (the same line they've been using for years). withdrawing money is also a problem. obviously they are running a scam to make money on the float. I don't know how they can do this and stay out of jail.

After receiving false information from 2 customer service reps, decided to open account elsewhere.

I agree with the previous messages. Everbank just takes too long to show transfers in the depositors accounts. My funds were taken out of my linked account on the 18th and today, the 21st, still no sign of the deposit. I may go elsewhere unless this process is streamlined. We use the internet for speed, not for delays that benefit the bank.

Furthermore, Everbank refused to let me ACH/EFT initial deposit to my new account. Sounds fishy?

Why? I guess with ACH/EFT, applicant could initiate transfer in or out from applicant's end.

If you write check or wire transfer to Everbank, Everbank has the control of your initial deposit and it's up to Everbank when to transfer the money back to your own account after it is approved.

Everbank wants to hold on to your FREE loans to them for as long as possible.
