I just got email from Americanet Bank saying that effective November 18, the interest rate on their mega money market accounts will drop from 2.00% to 1.75%. Since Americanet, Redneck, and Evantage are all owned by the same family, I expect that I'll shortly receive similar communication from the other two.

At present, Redneck pays 2% on the first $35,000 and 1% over that. They are currently not accepting new mega money market accounts, but there are two other banks that offer the same rates and terms (they even use the same online webpage templates.) They are AmericaNet bank and Evantage. Both pay 2% on the first $35,000 and 1% over that. Transactions are limited to $2,500 but you can make as many deposits as you want to in a day, as long as they are max $2,500. Withdrawals are also limited to $2,500 each and you can make six per month free. Over six withdrawals are charged $5 each. Money movement is rather slow..allow 7 to 10 days for transactions to settle. If speed is your need, use American Express savings. They presently pay 1.3% but transfers are lightning fast.

Better rate on the first $35,000 with the mega money market account. Currently, it's 2% APY while everyone else is 1.25. Transactions limited to $2500 but you can make several in a day. First six are free...$5 each after that in a month. I have 10 internet bank accounts and Redneck is the slowest to post deposits (haven't withdrawn any yet.)

It amazes me some of the complaints about this bank. I had no problem opening my account. No problem funding it. Yes they are slow, but that doe not mean one should not be willing to take the little bit of extra time when the interest rate is so much better than everywhere else. As for their customer service, whoever complained about that is an idiot. They answer fast and are friendly and helpful. It really is wrong to trash people who are doing their job. As for the fact they use an intermediary service for inter-bank account transfers again it is true it is slower..........but when you are moving money in to a much higher interest account this extra couple of days is not worth getting your knickers all in a twist!!!

Don't waste your time. Internet site is not user friendly; neither are employees. I stayed with them 3 months while thinking things would get better. I finally closed my account.

The transfer system is not bank controlled, but involves an intermediary paytaxxcentral.com.
That means that minimum time will be 4 business days 2 days for the money to get processed by paytraxx and 2 to get from there into your account. This is true in both directions. It will likely take a week to complete.
Also if originated at Redneck's end, the transaction is limited $2500. Originated at the other end that is not a problem.

Rate cuts are normally timing issues not necessarily the bank's fault. I am w/ another high savings bank, but they too have cut their rates in half over a 6 month period. As long as your bank is not cutting rates faster than the others, you should be ok.

I too had the same problem... waited about 2 weeks to get an account, finally got it... held off about a week or so, then transferred my money... it takes like 5 days to do a transfer, half way thru they announced the rate cut... so I wrote them an email and basically told them everything you guys said, and well, they have not responded back, that was about 2 weeks ago... I told them I was taking every cent and to close the account, I would never go with one of their banks if your looking for advice... their online interface is abnormally difficult, had to use my other bank to initiate ACH transfers... anyone with redneck should ditch them, anyone thinking they want to go with redneck needs to look elsewhere, and not america net bank, not evantage bank, and not redneck..

What a way to say thank you to their customers, they lowered the rate. I feel like I've been a victim of bait and switch.
They are not a user friendly bank at all. They are way too restrictive to be functional for me and the family.

It took a month to open an account during which they assigned me two different account numbers, went through two different trial transfers, and finally the day after I set up my first transfer into the bank they announced an interest rate reduction to 2%. Their web site is very non-intuitive and their internal systems are totally confusing. ING Direct is a half point less but have never had an issue in 10 years so I'm sticking with them. Redneck Bank is definately not "funner!"

Opened savings account at Evantage because of their interest rate. Two weeks later they emailed me that they dropped the rate to 2%. Looking for someplace to move my money.

Got an email that they approved my account. This was after their email yesterday acknowledging my desire not to open the account. Another phone
call and hopefully they got it right this time!

Don't waste your time with these yokels. I'm been working with them for 2 weeks to open an acct. I finally get the acct opened, and they cut the internet rate to 2% because of "overwhelming demand".

Because Redneck was closed I went to their affiliate, evantage. I completed all the paperwork, they did the trail deposits but the account still wasn't opened. After a week of waiting I called and now they tell me to mail in a copy of my drivers license. Now I have opened about 10 savings/cd's at banks with no problem. Then they tell me it will be another 2-3 business days before it will be opened.
I decided to cancel and go somewhere else!
